- ―Brenda to Alice and Bill concerning strip monopoly before departing to her cabin
Brenda Jones was a character in the film Friday the 13th, in which she was portrayed by Laurie Bartram. A young woman, Brenda was hired by entrepreneur Steve Christy to fix-up Camp Crystal Lake in 1979.
Personality
Brenda seemed to know a bit about nutrition and food values such as when she explained to Marcie Stanler what Vitamin C does for the body, and later describes how foods can be combined to get the right amount of protein from it to the others. Despite this knowledge, she had no intention of being the chef of the camp given the fact that Annie Phillips, the cook never showed up.[1]
Biography
Heading off to Camp Crystal Lake to her inevitable demise, Brenda arrived in June and befriended fellow counselors/potential mass murder victims Alice Hardy and Bill Brown. On Friday the 13th, when the other hired counselors arrived and Steve drove into town for a few hours to run errands, Brenda and the rest of the counselors got to know each other while hanging out at Crystal Lake. While at the lake with the others, Brenda briefly glimpsed Pamela Voorhees in the woods, but dismissed the sight as nothing. During this time, she was constantly pursued by Ned Rubenstein who liked her.[1]
After hanging out together and eating dinner, Brenda holed up in the main cabin with Alice and Bill. Soon a strong thunderstorm moved in. To pass the time, Brenda suggested they play Strip Monopoly, which involved taking off clothing instead paying rent. As the game went on, the storm got worse. Brenda decided to call the game off, and was suddenly worried she has left the windows in her cabin open. After leaving, Brenda stopped by the campground bathroom and brushed her teeth. She soon got the feeling that she was being watched. Dismissing the notion, Brenda left the bathrooms and headed back to her cabin. Brenda soon retired to bed wearing a white nightgown and did some light reading. Brenda then heard what sounded like a child’s voice calling for help outside. Filled with concern, she went out into the raging storm to investigate. Her trek into the darkness lead her to the archery range. Suddenly, Brenda was blinded when the lights at the archery range turned on and she was attacked by Pamela.[1]
Some time later Brenda was tied to wooden boards and pushed through a window of the main cabin by Pamela to terrorize Alice, the only counselor Pamela had yet to murder. After being hurled through the window, Brenda writhed around slightly, hinting Pamela did not outright kill her before defenestrating her. Brenda's body was later shown to Pamela (who feigned innocence) by Alice, who clumsily stumbled across the corpse again later on while fleeing from the now completely crazed Pamela.[1]
