- "You lied! You lied! We gave you power and now we have nothing!"
- ―The Dream Demons to their agent Freddy Krueger
The Dream Demons were characters from the Nightmare on Elm Street series of films, who have also appeared in the comic book miniseries Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash: The Nightmare Warriors.
Biography[]
In the 1960s, when serial killer Freddy Krueger was killed by the vengeful parents of his victims after escaping justice on a technicality, the three serpentine Dream Demons appeared and made him their agent, granting him the power to kill in dreams.
In the summer of 2009, after Jason Voorhees is captured by the government, Freddy, who had been brought back to Earth by Project Black Book after being trapped in the realm of the Deadites for six months, appears in his mind. Using Jason's hatred of his would-be victims, who have banded together with some of his own enemies, Freddy convinces Jason to join him, cementing their deal by summoning the Dream Demons to repair all the damage Jason has accumulated over the years (this has the side effect of also repairing Jason's natural deformities).
When Freddy's armies and the Nightmare Warriors, led by Ash Williams, battle on the lawn of the White House in Washington DC, Freddy, after absorbing the soul of the slain Jason and after Doctor Neil Gordon and the spirit of Nancy Thompson open a portal using the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, is confronted by the Dream Demons, who crawl out of the pages of the Necronomicon. Surrounding their agent, the Dream Demons, for vague reasons ("We gave you power and now we have nothing!") deem Freddy unworthy and strip him of his powers, including those he gained from the Necronomicon. With their work done, the Dream Demons disintegrate as Freddy, mortally wounded by a blast from Ash's shotgun, is sucked into the Necronomicon's portal.[1]
