James "Jim" Miller was originally a student from Lakeview High School who was supposed to attend the graduation field trip to New York in Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan.
Biography[]
Jim Miller, a high school student, is first seen on his parents' boat making love with his girlfriend Suzi Donaldson. Following their encounter, he attempts to scare his girlfriend by relating to her the story of Jason Voorhees, a serial killer who struck on several previous occasions along the shore of Crystal Lake. Ironically, the story is punctuated by the boat's anchor striking an underwater cable; the electrical current carried by this cable revives the corpse of Jason which had laid dormant at the bottom of the lake following his defeat at the end of Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood.
Jim, unaware of this fact, tries to frighten Suzi further with a hockey mask even as the real Jason climbs aboard the vessel and retrieves a spear gun before confronting the couple. Suzi flees in terror, leaving Jim to his fate; Jason disembowels the shocked teenager with the spear gun which pulls out Jim's intestines while retrieving the mask and substituting it for his own, which he had lost. Jim perished almost instantly, and Suzi was killed shortly thereafter in a similar method.
Their deaths went initially unnoticed by the Crystal Lake community, and their absence from the launch of the SS Lazarus the next day was believed to be simple absenteeism. Jason, as a result of the incidental resurrection by Jim and his family's vessel, went on to board the Lazarus and commit more than a dozen homicides involving members of the crew and passengers, among them many of Jim's peers. The rampage was only stalled in New York City, the final destination of the Lazarus.
